About the event

Agriculture and Climate Workshop for Farmers

Come and have your say!

Share your knowledge and your experience to inform farm climate policy

The National Economic and Social Council (NESC), the body that advises the Taoiseach on key issues, is preparing a comprehensive assessment of agriculture and climate. The report is being supported by a high-level stakeholder group and is due for publication early in 2023. As part of the project, NESC has looked at the broader policy context, including the economic, social and environmental factors. Of particular interest is the low carbon transition for agriculture and the challenges and opportunities this presents within the wider context of land use, forestry and rural development. These are critical in considering what is a just and inclusive transition.

Three workshops are being held across Ireland to hear directly from farmers about their experiences of climate transitions. This workshop is for farmers to share their experiences of climate policy and to share opinions on the actions that will help them meet climate transition targets in a just and inclusive way.

The workshops will inform the report on Agriculture and Climate Change that is being presented to the Taoiseach early in 2023.

Each workshop lasts for 2.5 hours with lunch provided and a €50 voucher is offered to every participant. Workshops are being held in:

  • Oct 11 Tubbercurry, Co Sligo
  • Oct 12 Tullamore, Co Offaly
  • Oct 13 Mitchelstown, Co Cork

The workshops will focus on different farm types including Beef, Dairy, and Mixed Farming. Limited places are available at the workshops.
