About the event

DAERA has recently funded a research project that brings together researchers from AFBI and Ulster University to explore what currently works well and what more can be done to support our local hills and uplands farmers developing sustainable practices while maintaining a productive and viable farm business. The research will provide important, new local evidence to Government on how local farmers can move to more sustainable farming practices, the challenges faced and the key incentives.

The project team from Ulster University will be hosting a group discussion on these topics with hills and upland farmers at the following locations, starting at 7.30pm.  Hot refreshments will be served.

·      Ballymac hotel, Lisburn/Dundrod  - Tuesday 14 June

·      Silver Birches hotel, Omagh – Tuesday 21 June

·      Burrendale hotel, Newcastle – Wednesday 29 June

All participants in the study will be provided with a summary report of the key findings at the end of the study. At a wider level, it is hoped that this work will help inform future environmental schemes and policy development.

A small payment of £25 (Amazon gift voucher) will be made in recognition of the time given and possible travel involved to take part in a group discussion.

If you are a hills and uplands farmer and would like to take part in one of the group discussions, please get in touch.
