About the event

In January at Oxford Real Farming Conference, LWA will be launching its market garden report, "Horticulture across Four Nations" and with it the horticulture campaign will move into a new phase of activity. 37% of LWA members are involved in horticulture in some way. We are keen to ensure that the campaign reflects the needs and visions of our members and allied agroecological horticulture organisations (e.g. Organic Growers' Alliance, CSA Network), in the hope that you will all get behind it, and use this report to lobby at a local level (with your MPs/MSPs/MS/MLAs) and local authorities for greater support for market gardens.

We invite you to join the LWA "Horticulture across Three Nations" policy team on Wednesday 8th November (6-7.30pm) for an online engagement session, to share with you a preview of the report contents, gather your feedback on it, and find out how we can hone the messaging to appeal to and motivate our members to help us ramp up the campaign in the New Year. The report, which includes our vision for "A Food Zones system for every city and 1-7 market gardens for every village and town" will be illustrated with case studies of market gardens show-casing the environmental and social benefits they can deliver. It will also contain policy requests tailored to each of the devolved governments.

We are exploring creative ways to engage with you, our horticultural members, to find out how we can more effectively represent you when advocating for you at a policy level across the four nations. So please, put on the kettle, make a brew and join us on 8th November to let us know how you would like to be involved in this campaign and how we can make it successful.
