Agroforestry offers promising potential for the poultry industry through its multifaceted benefits. By integrating trees with poultry farming, farmers can diversify their products and income streams while enhancing environmental sustainability. This walk will give you an insight into the practical implementation of incorporating trees into a free range poultry enterprise and showcase improved farm resilience through the integration of trees with poultry farming practices

McAdoo poultry farm planted 3.53 ha of agroforestry in 2020. Tree species are Birch, Cherry, Rowan, Hazel and Sycamore. The site is planted in rows 8m apart and a tree spacing of 3m within the rows.

Registration is essential.

The farm walk is funded by the Forestry Promotion Fund provided by the Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine.

Please email Ragna on projectsupport@irishagroforestry.ie if you have any farm walk queries.
