Hi Michael, There is some information on how to store tree hay here https://darachcroft.com/news/tree-hay, basically cutting the branches bundling together and storing somewhere dry. In New Zealand they feed freshly cut branches to livestock for 30 minutes daily after they have been grazing a while. One of our Agroforestry Experts said "as far as I know there is no practical way to mechanise harvesting, so 10ha may be bit ambitious. Also it would be risky to use it as a primary fodder, it has traditionally been a supplementary feed to increase diversity and the available nutrients in the animal's diet." I hope that helps.
I farm an area with redundant biomass willow plantations. 10 ha. Would be keen to find out more about how to conserve the willow for winter feeding?
Really interesting article
