We sowed this MSS in August 2021. We grazed it last year and about September last year I was due to host a bdg meeting looking at this field. Anyway we ended up leaving a strip to show people as by the time it was organised the cows had ate it all. This then became a safe to fail trial area and we left it to see what would happen. This hasnt been grazed since mid summer last year.
I dug a spade hole to see what it looks like. The soil is beautifully crumbly with no signs of compaction. I counted earthworms and found about 15 after a few escaped. I was surprised by this thinking there may have been more but it was ploughed on establishment and i think this is a reason. The spade shows the forage mass there for comparison.
Wow you have really strong chicory presence š Iād be very happy with 15 worms!!
How many did you have before the reseed?
