QUB will be running Design Sprints with multidisciplinary teams of students in September. If you have any ideas for challenges add them here and we'll pass them on to the team at QUB.
How do we logistically start resolving the nutrient surplus in NI through more rotational mixed farming? How do we start mining long term accumulation of P&K in intensively manured soils? And how do we utilise these nutrient surpluses to economically grow a more diverse range of outputs? Feels like we are sitting on a P&K goldmine here but how do we realise its value? Perhaps potatoes need to feature more prominently back in rotations? Same could be said for organic matter and carbon in our soils. Lots on the surface but how do we get these stores deeper and locked up for the longterm?
